Фахівець буде проводити тренінги та розробляти стратегію дослідження територій, забруднених вибухонебезпечними рештками, які лишилися після військових дій в Східній Україні, і що контролюються урядом України. About us

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an International non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. The Danish Demining Group (DDG) is the mine action and armed violence reduction unit within DRC and focuses on freeing communities from the fear of mines, explosive remnants of war and armed violence. 

Danish Demining Group has been operational in Ukraine since 2014 focusing on educating civilians as to the dangers of landmines and explosive remnants of war and conducting survey and marking of hazardous areas away from the contact line in government controlled areas.

About job

DDG is now seeking to hire a Non-Technical Survey Specialist to support ongoing survey assessments in eastern Ukraine of areas contaminated by explosive remnants of war. Being located in Mariupol s/he will technically report to DDG Head of Programme located in Kyiv and administratively to Head of Office.

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with DRC construction engineers, conducting site contamination assessments in support of construction and rehabilitation works
  • Conducting non-technical survey of suspected and confirmed hazardous areas in government-controlled areas of eastern Ukraine, in cooperation with relevant stakeholders
  • Conducting training for colleagues on basic landmine and UXO recognition
  • Conducting training for external parties on basic landmine recognition and UXO recognition
  • Assisting in the improvement of DDG’s operational database
  • Preparing documentation necessary to conduct assigned activities
  • Assisting with ad-hoc operational tasks as assigned by the DDG Head of Programme

Selection criteria

That means that you understand the importance of establishing close and trustful relationships with stakeholders on all levels of the organization, while at the same time keeping yourself motivated and busy. Essential Experience / Qualifications

  • University level education
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Experience working in humanitarian mine action         
  • High level of technical understanding of landmines and explosive ordnance
  • Experience conducting non-technical survey
  • Experience delivering training in mine action – specific subject matter

 Highly desirable but not necessary:

  • IMAS EOD level III qualification
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant fixed term employment contract. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Ukrainian Labour Code and Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Local Nationals. This position is classified at level C.
